Outwest Camping & R.V. Park is a family owned, Alberta corporation formed by David & Darlene McDonald to build and operate a fully modern, serviced campground facility. The campground is situated on a parcel of land ideally located for recreational use. To the south, west, and north are public lands, immediately accessible to the back-packer, hiker, quad-rider, or equestrian. This first phase of the campground sits on approximately thirty acres of land overlooking the picturesque Prairie Creek valley to the south-west and a smaller tributary to the north-west. It consists of over eighty spacious, drive-through R.V. stalls, showers, bathroom facilities, pressure washer for quads etc. and a large parking lot-storage area. The stalls are approximately sixty feet long by ninety feet long and about half of each stall remains treed. Stalls are serviced with water and electricity, with central dumping stations for sewage disposal. A fire ring and picnic table is provided at each stall. A combination of thirty and fifty amp electrical services are available.
Being a family operation allows Outwest the flexibility to meet a variety of client needs. As part of this flexibility we are making a limited number of stalls available on a seasonal rental basis. These will be offered on a five-year term and will be based of 2005 rates. While a season will run from May 15 to September 15, winter storage and use will be accommodated and discounts will be offered to purchasers of these packages.
Outwest is also offering a limited number, of two week a year packages for those who do not want to park their units on a seasonal basis. These will also be offered on terms of up to five years will also be based on 2005 rates. Both of these offerings will be sold as licenses and purchasers may resell them at their discretion.
Outwest’s intent is to provide a gourmet serving of the finest facilities, able to accommodate the largest of today’s and tomorrow’s recreational vehicles. As every gourmet setting needs a center-piece, Outwest has provided a large,(almost two acre) park in the center of the campground. This area bounds a small amphitheatre which will be developed at a later date. It contains play areas for children, game areas for “older children”, and trails with benches for some “quiet space”.
The McDonald’s are the fourth generation of David’s family to manage their family farm (cow-calf) operation. David has been involved in several community organizations, serving nine years on Municipal Council, (three as Reeve), and as chairman of the Red Deer Regional Planning Commission. He has also served on several Provincial Boards including the Alberta Planning Board, the Local Authorities Board, the Alberta Assessment Appeal Board and the Municipal Government Board. David currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Credit Union Guarantee Corporation and on the Alberta Surface Rights Board. Darlene is a full-time homemaker.
Outwest’s mission is to host a quality, user friendly environment, which will provide visitors of many and varying interest a safe, pleasant and enjoyable stay in our West Country. To accomplish this we offer maximum flexibility and high quality service seasoned with a family history and perspective of the area dating back to the early 1900’s.
